Prof. Dr. Hans-Bernd Brosius (* 1957) studied Psychology and Medicine at University of Muenster. After his doctoral dissertation in 1983 he was Research Assistant and later Assistant Professor at University of Mainz. There he finished his postdoctoral dissertation (Habilitation) in 1994 with a study on news reception. In 1996 he became Associate Professor, and from 1998 Full Professor at the Institute for Communication Science and Media Research at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. From 1998 to 2002 he was president of the German Communication Association (Deutschen Gesellschaft für Publizistik- und Kommunikationswissenschaft). From 1995 to 2004 he was director of the Medien Institut Ludwigshafen, a company for applied media studies. From October 2001 on he is Dean of the Social Sciences Faculty at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. His teaching and research interests include media use, media effects and methodology.
