Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Arnold Picot is the director of the Institute for Information, Organization and Management at the Munich School of Management, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, since 1988.

His primary research fields are industry and corporate organization and the strategic management of technology, information and innovations. He specifically covers research topics in telecommunications and media, including regulatory issues.

After his master´s degree Prof. Picot completed his Ph.D. at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich in 1972. Until 1984, he was professor for corporate management and organization at the University of Hannover, between 1984 and 1987 he held a chair at the Technical University of Munich. He holds honorary doctoral degrees of Bergakademie Freiberg (1998) und the University St. Gallen (2002).

Besides being amicus curiae for several federal and state departments, Prof. Picot is chairman of the academic committee for regulatory issues at the federal regulatory authority for telecommunications and postal services. He is member of the board of trustees of the Alcatel SEL Foundation for Communication Research, media advisor of the Bertelsmann Foundation, advisor of the Fraunhofer Group Information and Communication Technology, chairman of the board of the Münchner Kreis (International Association for Communication Research) and member of several other academic associations, i.a. of the Bavarian Academy of Science.

Prof. Picot ist co-editor of several scientific journals, i. a. „Schmalenbachs Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung“, „Information Management & Consulting“, „Wirtschaftsinformatik“, „Electronic Markets“ and the „International Journal on Media Management“. He himself composed numerous academic publications and pieces of standard literature in the field of organization and strategic management.
